AIR MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Owing to Fläkt Woods’ unrivalled and comprehensive product portfolio, we remain the only company in the UK capable of providing entire indoor climate solutions. Our wide range of air management systems includes:

ACTIVE CHILLED BEAMS

The Fläkt Woods Flexicool® IQ range of ventilated chilled beams offers both cooling and heating functions, and is available for either flush mounting and integration within a ceiling facade or fully exposed. The chilled beam utilises the convection principle to induce air across finned coil heat exchangers mounted within the unit. The room’s air mixes with the primary supply air and is discharged evenly into the room via lateral slot openings.

Unique features of the FW range of active chilled beams include comfort control, which adjusts the air diffusion into the room and regulates the capacity of the chilled beam to provide flexibility for future planning, and regulation by means of variable geometry slots, providing either uni or bi-directional supply. Twin slots are available for higher air volumes.

FW active chilled beams also incorporate Flow Pattern Control (FPC) in most models, allowing for up to 45° of adjustment for the air vanes in the outlets, and full adjustability of the 300mm sections on either side of a unit.

The variable air discharge of the active chilled beams controls directions, angles and flow patterns of convection to adapt to new room configurations and partitioning. Adjustable cooling and heating capacity adapts to changing room conditions.

The Flexicool active chilled beam range features the following flush-mounted options:

• IQID: Adapted for integration into 600mm suspended ceiling modules and specification flexibility for full multi-functional operation and control

• IQSA: Adapted for integration into 300mm suspended ceiling modules with combined cooling, heating and ventilation options

• IQCA: Adaptable cassette unit for integration in 600mm × 600mm or 1,200mm × 600mm suspended ceiling modules

The Flexicool range also features the following exposed beam options:

• IQFD and IQFE: Aesthetically designed casing profiles

• IQTA: Aesthetically designed casing profiles particularly suitable for hotel guestrooms

PASSIVE CHILLED BEAMS

The Fläkt Woods Flexicool® QP range of passive chilled beams provides efficient cost-effective cooling, and with the absence of moving parts requires little maintenance. They are available for flush mounting, integration within a ceiling facade, or installed above a perforated ceiling.

The Flexicool passive chilled beam range features the QPSA and QPBA for flush-mounting or exposed fitting, and the QPDA for exposed fitting only.

Features of the QPSA and QPBA include:

• Available in two standard widths
• [QPSA] Narrow configuration: 290mm wide
• [QPBA] Broad configuration: 430mm wide
• Bespoke widths available upon request

Features of the QPDA include:

• Customised cased beam for exposed installation: 400mm width
• Simple-to-remove side-plates for easy cleaning / maintenance of coil and casing
• Optional integral lighting

MULTI-SERVICE CHILLED BEAMS

Fläkt Woods offer a range of multi-service chilled beams. These include:

• Cooling, heating and ventilation systems
• Integral uplighting and downlighting systems
• PIR sensors
• Smoke detectors
• Speaker and sprinkler systems

Fläkt Woods also offer a wide range of room controls, including room thermostats, controllers, valves, actuators, and condensation and occupancy sensors for sequential cooling and heating.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF AIR MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

We have one of Europe’s most extensive R&D facilities for testing ventilation products.

Our facilities are unique since they are equipped to test entire ventilation systems. Within our dedicated laboratories we are able to demonstrate and prove the performance of our products and control strategies.

We also carry out full-scale customer tests to measure and study comfort levels, cooling and heating outputs, velocity profiles and noise criteria.
