The Surface Design Show welcomed a new exhibitor in the form of stone engineers, Cumbria-based Burlington. Prized by interior designers, architects, specifiers and developers the world over, Burlington’s natural stone remains unequalled when it comes to its intrinsic aesthetic and technical properties.

Promoted at the show – the only UK event that focuses exclusively on interior and exterior surface solutions in building design – were Burlington’s revered products such as sumptuous flooring, wall cladding, work surfaces, vanity units, surrounds and splashbacks. Also seeking to woo visitors, Burlington promoted its recently expanded interior product offering that now include a stylish and minimalist range of standard/off-the-shelf natural stone inline shower trays and aqua panels. Also now on offer are bath panels, up stands, dado rails and skirtings.

Equally at home in the external environment, Burlington demonstrated the pedigree of its natural slate roofing, not to mention a portfolio of products engineered to bring a new dimension to outdoor living. Walling, paving, obelisks, water features, benches and an array of decorative aggregates were just some of Burlington’s natural stone products that can be specified to help create an infinite number of external landscaping opportunities across both formal to informal and traditional to contemporary schemes.
With a history dating back to 1843, Burlington today manufactures a diverse range of luxurious interior and exterior natural stone products, all of which deliver a stunning and fashionable permanence to any residential or commercial architectural design style, both traditional and contemporary. Combining craftsmanship skills with environmentally sensitive extraction processes and modern production techniques, the company’s stone engineers shape British Lakeland stone from deposits laid down over 450 million years ago.

In addition to an almost limitless product offering that sets Burlington’s stone apart from the rest, so too does the palette of colours that is available. Alongside a unique mix of five sumptuous stones – blue/grey Kirkby, pale green Elterwater, mid green Bursting Stone, olive green Broughton Moor and silver grey Brandy Crag – are two limestones, Caulfeild and Lord.

Adding to the romance of each stone’s rich colouring are contrasting veins and markings that emphasise its natural origins. Each stone is available in a range of eight smooth and textured finishes. In short, the exhibition will give visitors and the media the chance to become acquainted with the ultimate in luxurious British natural stone products, engineered from one of the world’s richest sources of stone.
