KAMI, a leading manufacturer of metal roof products, specialises in durability and aesthetics for any climate. Two unique projects illustrate the versatility of the roofing materials from this Scandinavian company.
With exceptional durability and remarkable appearance, the high quality metal roofing products from KAMI can fit any project, anywhere. From the base of Mount Fuji to the plains of Lithuania, from traditional style to modern architecture, KAMI crosses the globe, as well as building design, in these two building projects.
Lake Yamanaka, near Mount Fuji, Japan
Home to the CEO of the Japanese subsidiary of HONKA, a Finnish company specialising in log homes. The architect leading the project was Edward Suzuki.
Situated in the foothills of Mount Fuji, the home of HONKA Japan CEO, Marko Saarelainen, was designed to not only take in the magnificent view of Mount Fuji, but to also accommodate the various weather conditions this mountain area receives.
As the first low-pitch roof project in a snow-prone area in Japan, this log Honka house needed just the right roofing materials to accommodate the 15° roof, while also being able to withstand heavy amounts of snowfall. Complementing the log home design was of course another defining factor, therefore KAMI Plus PLEGEL in black was the natural choice for the project. With an attractive smooth surface and the durability of 0.5mm thick double-coated steel, Plus PLEGEL offers aesthetics, as well as exceptional protection, for this mountain home.
Jasinai, Lithuania
Renovation of the Church of St. Anna. The architect leading the project was Henryk Genello.
The Church of St. Anna, located near Vilnius, Lithuania, is a prime example of classical Lithuanian architecture. After nearly 90 years since its construction in 1928, the church took on a renovation project in 2006.
Renovation of the church included the replacement of the multi-level church roof covering, and due to certain characteristics of the building, the choice of roofing materials was a careful decision. Blending in with the classical building design, while providing modern protection, was key to the renovation, for which KAMI Terra PLEGEL in dark red offered the perfect solution.
Modelled after a traditional tile roof, Terra PLEGEL has a double coating of polyester and additional layers of sand and topcoat, presenting an aesthetically pleasing appearance for the church roof. As it is made of 0.5mm thick galvanised steel, yet weighs only 5.5kg/m², TerraPLEGEL provides highly durable yet lightweight protection for the delicate framing of the church roof, which was an important consideration for the renovation project.
