Skellefteå, May 17, 2006 - What started as a small retrofit business in the 1970’s has become the major market segment in numbers for Alimak Industrial Lifts. During April 2006 the total accumulated order intake of all years passed 2000 units. The present Alimak market share of new sales is close to 70% (China excluded).

Today Alimak container crane lifts are installed in 91 different countries all over the world, which is an astonishing 47% of all recognized states worldwide.

Although there are no signs of the demand of new sales going down in numbers, one of the future challenges for our sales organisations and distributors is to develop the business taking care of After Sales service as well as future coming replacement opportunities, which in fact already have started for some of the earliest supplied units.

"Even if the total number of units has decreased since the glorious days of the early 90’s when bulk orders of 12-30 units were quite common, we are of course very pleased with the size of our market share", says Mr. Allan Leth, Segment Manager of Alimak AB head office in Skellefteå.

Crane lifts
Alimak has been producing access lifts for ports around the world since 1971. The installation of access lifts eliminates the need for maintenance personnel and crane operators climbing ladders – taking up to 25 minutes. In an Alimak lift the ride to the top takes approx. 1 minute. A lift installation results in more efficient maintenance and as a result reduced downtime. Additional savings are also made with tools and exchange parts carried in the lift car eliminating waiting time.

Codes and regulations
All Alimak lifts comply with European and American codes and regulations, plus many other worldwide national codes.
