Saxon Lifts - Standard and Specialist Lifts

Saxon Lifts was founded in 1988 in Northamptonshire, England. Since then we have led the way in the quality design and construction of standard and specialist lifts for every possible purpose.

From scissor lifts or platform lifts for workstations, disabled persons lifts, goods only and special purpose lifts, we deliver innovative and effective solutions for a multitude of applications.

SAXON CAR LIFT: LOW PROFILE SCISSOR LIFT

With a contract load requirement of 4,500kg, or 50 persons carrying capacity over 4,400mm of fully guided travel, safe operation of the lift is of paramount importance. The lift platform is fitted with a lift car (measuring 2,700mm wide by 6,300mm deep and 2,000mm high), an open grid galvanised steel floor and extractor fan for full ventilation.

The lift is powered by a remote electro-hydraulic power pack and the contracted lift speed is 250mm/s. The lift has power-operated centre opening doors manufactured in brushed stainless steel. The low profile scissor lift design only requires a 600mm deep lift pit.

The car lift has automatic push button controls and a key operated call button and traffic lights to indicate when the lift is free. The driver operates the lift from inside the vehicle with strip switches running down each side of the lift at window height.

HEAVY-DUTY SCISSOR DRIVEN GOODS LIFT AND POWERED LOADING BAY DOOR

This specification called for a concealed 5,000kg capacity goods lift to travel 10m and operate between the basement and gallery floor and a special exterior loading bay door.

Saxon engineers proposed a novel lift solution based on a hydraulically operated triple scissor mechanism, with a platform measuring 5,900mm by 2,600mm. The platform carries a 4,400mm high lift car with two-hour fire rated galvanised steel lift doors. The top of the lift car is designed to carry an additional structural art gallery floor weighing 2,000kg.

The installation was completed with a special heavy-duty powered art-handling door, providing access from street level. The structural stainless steel framed door is clad with stone slabs from the existing facade. When closed, the door is completely hidden from view, leaving the building elevation unspoilt.

SCISSOR LIFT AND SEALED LOADING BAY SYSTEM

A UK based food distribution facility required a scissor lift and sealed loading bay solution that could fully comply with the food hygiene regulations.

Saxon proposed to narrow an existing warehouse door opening to suit a standard trailer width and fit a full height, flap-type dock shelter complete with a bottom draft curtain and strip curtains to prevent heat loss or gain.

A 3000kg capacity universal type scissor lift from the lorry loading range was engineered to accept standard Chep-type pallets direct from the vehicle and transfer the load at right angles onto the loading area at finished floor level.

FREESTYLE WHEELCHAIR LIFT: MODULAR LIFT PLATFORM

This cost effective lift is one of a range of modular lift platforms designed for wheelchair users. Suitable for internal or external use, the hydraulic scissor driven lift provides an unobtrusive, safe and near silent lift, with electro-mechanically interlocked safety gates.

Barrier rails are manufactured with either sheet steel or safety glass infill panels. Lift call buttons are located at each level with constant pressure controls on the platform, all 24V operation. Key lockable controls are provided for this installation at the lower level.

TELESCOPIC HYDRAULIC MAST DRIVEN GOODS LIFT

The Rohm & Haas factory had traditionally used forklift trucks to transfer loads between levels within its process plant. A new goods lift was required but space was at a premium and excavating a traditional lift pit was not possible.

Saxon proposed the installation of a new telescopic hydraulic mast driven goods lift. The freestanding self-supporting fully clad lift shaft is surface mounted with manually operated electro-mechanically interlocked landing doors. The direct acting telescopic hydraulic lift cylinder is fitted to a robust vertical guidance system incorporating a 'rucksack' design sling to suspend the lift platform, negating the need for a pit.

The space taken up by the spiral road access from ground level to the basement car parking area was released and replaced with a lift to transfer vehicles between the two levels.

The Playfair project, named after the Scottish architect Sir William Henry Playfair, who designed both buildings, included the provision of a large artifacts-handling lift and a concealed stone clad loading bay door.
