Arch Timber Protection - Fire-Resistant Timber and Applied Fire Retardants for Wood

UK-based company Arch Timber Protection offers proven fire retardant treatments for structural wood products and also supplies pre-treated fire-resistant timber. Only accredited, approved and properly applied fire retardant treatments will allow you to effectively meet building control requirements and design beautifully with wood. DRICON and NON-COM Exterior treatments, available from our service treatment centre in Yorkshire, provide these assurances. Our treatment centre operates to both ISO9001 and ISO 14001 standards plus the Wood Protection Association’s Quality scheme. Moreover, DRICON is the only fire retardant treated timber with BBA approval.

Proven fire-resistant timber

We can treat your timber or source timber to your specification, all to meet BS476 Class 0 and Class 1 or Euroclass B and C surface spread of flame requirements. Whilst functioning primarily as a flame retardant protection for timber, it is also important to note that both DRICON and NON-COM Exterior treatments confer enhanced biological durability to the treated timber, without the need for any additional chemical preservative treatment.

We have global experience in the fire protection of timber and have extensive fire certification in conjunction with Warrington Fire - the leading fire test body in Europe.

DRICON – fire-retardant treated timber for interior and weather protected exterior situations

DRICON is the only BBA (British Board of Agrément) approved fire retardant treatment for timber. A water-based, HR type (humidity resistant) formulation, DRICON is designed to protect timbers and sheet materials to be used in interior or weather-protected exterior situations. Weather-protected means under a maintained surface coating or timber under cover, not exposed to direct wetting.

Treatment involves pressure impregnation of the DRICON formulation into the timber, followed by careful kiln drying to return the timber to a specified moisture content. A wide range of solid timbers and plywoods are suitable for DRICON treatment.

DRICON treatment also has the following accreditations:

  • Wood Protection Association approved status product
  • Complies with the London Underground Standard ‘Fire Safety of Materials’
  • Independently assessed and approved by the American Wood Preservers Association
  • Independently assessed and accredited with the Swedish Sitac quality mark
  • Approved by the National Access & Scaffolding Confederation for the protection of scaffold boards

NON-COM Exterior – fire retardant treated timber for exterior and severe damp situations

NON-COM Exterior is a polymer based, LR type (leach resistant) formulation designed to protect timbers and sheet materials to be used in exterior and severe damp situations. In these exterior situations, NON-COM Exterior treated timbers can be used either with or without a decorative coating.

Treatment involves pressure impregnation of the NON-COM Exterior formulation followed by a careful kiln drying and heat curing process to return the timber to a specified moisture content. A wide range of solid timbers and plywoods are suitable for NON-COM Exterior treatment, as well as specific commodities, such as cedar shingles and shakes and Yorkshire boarding. NON-COM Exterior is a Wood Protection Association approved status product.
