DESSO - Specialist Interior Carpeting

DESSO has been manufacturing and marketing carpets for almost 80 years in both residential and commercial applications. During this time it has earned a fine reputation as a reliable partner and creative designer, and has worked with a range of high-profile clients such as ABN Amro, Allianz, Regus, Hilton, Marriott Hotels, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, and Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal football clubs.

Today, it has three factories in Europe and specialist customer service centres throughout Europe, as well as in America, Asia, South Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

Functional and tufted carpeting for public access interiors

DESSO's range of products includes functional carpeting for demanding situations, plus exciting tufted carpeting for specifiers and end-users that are looking to make a design statement. To meet the needs of the carpeting market, DESSO designers remain in close contact with architects, interior designers and suppliers with a view to analysing current thinking and future trends throughout Europe. Subsequently, DESO employs the latest technologies, combined with its wealth of experience, to turn the information gathered into innovative products.

Bespoke carpet design

CARPETECTURE® is a powerful example of DESSO's commitment to creative and bespoke carpet design and its dedication to answer the needs of architects, interior designers, building owners and end users.

It starts with the initial inspiration for the carpet design. The DESSO designer samples aspects of contemporary architecture and its associated influences, and then applies them within the carpet design. In the process everything about how and why each design is created is described and documented. It is this information that the architect and interior designer can use in choosing the most supportive design.

Aesthetic interior carpets

The ‘Pure Lines’ collection takes as its starting point the strata and parallel forms that run throughout buildings. The collection uses the rhythms of brick patterns and vertical columns to create continuity with the architecture. It celebrates the repeated familiarity and symetry found in nature: fields of corn, forests of trees and rays of sunshine. For this reason the Pure Lines collection of aesthetic interior carpetsuses natural toned colours and structure, creating tranquillity and warmth.

Bold colour interior carpeting

‘Colour Dimensions’ reflects the recent trend for bold colour palettes and unusual textures, seen in everything from wallpaper to window dressing. The collection is at the forefront of contemporary fashion with a range of patterned and plain carpets in a host of hues, celebrating colour's ability to define and describe space.

The ‘Colour Dimensions’ collection consists of five contemporary tiles, each demonstrating a new direction in the use of carpet as a design. Whether to create a sense of dynamic movement, emphasise direction, change the perspective in a room or create strong links with other furnishing fabrics, the collection offers interior designers and architects the carpet choices needed to animate the bones and body of a building.

Cradle to Cradle environmentally friendly carpeting

DESSO is also the first carpet manufacturer in Europe to adopt the Cradle to Cradle design. It marks DESSO's radical decision to move beyond mere sustainability in producing its carpets, making a fundamental, sweeping advance in its already impressive environmental credentials.

Cradle to Cradle takes its inspiration from nature's changing seasons, creating continuous cycles of both biological and technical nutrients. It envisages production design that creates totally waste-free products which are either biodegradable or are recycled in their entirety to provide the raw materials for new goods. They will have been produced using manufacturing processes which rely on renewable energy, and which seek to conserve water, and to embrace social responsibility.

Customers can be sure that such products are made from environmentally safe and healthy materials and are designed so that at their end of their useful lives, they can be biologically or technically recycled.
