A knowing act door is an automatic door that requires a conscious act, such as pressing a door switch, to activate the door. Wikk Industries has been designing and manufacturing an extensive range of knowing act, low-energy door activation devices and accessories under the AccessAbility™ trademark since 1984. Our product line includes wall switches (push buttons / pads), key switches, bollard posts, wireless options and a wide variety of mounting accessories.

Although initially developed for compliance in the US and Canada (our door activation devices comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act), these door activation devices are now in use around the globe. They are installed extensively in the United Kingdom to satisfy the similar requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

WALL SWITCHES FOR DOOR ACTIVATION

We manufacture a comprehensive range of push button and key switches in six separate shapes and in 12 styles and legends to accommodate nearly every installation requirement. Energising options include electrical, pneumatic and wireless (radio frequency).

Our wall switches are available in architectural-grade stainless steel and brass finishes.

We provide these wall switches in sizes and shapes varying from 45mm (1.75in) wide x 114mm (4.5in) tall to 152mm (6in) square.

THE INGRESS’R DOOR ACTIVATION SWITCH

The INGRESS’R, Wikk’s patented design in knowing act door activation, is designed to offer all traffic the easiest and most convenient method of automatic door activation. This switch provides access for all, whether a person is physically challenged or simply burdened by packages, carts, perambulators, or the like.

The features of the INGRESS’R door activation switch include:

• Dimensions of 914mm high x 152mm wide x 38mm diameter (36in x 6in x 1.5in)
• Central activation column, 64mm (2.5in) wide
• The sleek tapered profile deflects impact from wheeled conveyances and directs movement into the central column
• Mounts perfectly onto a bollard with a minimum width of 152mm (6in) and height of 1,003mm (39.5in) from the finished floor
• Available in architectural-grade clear or dark bronze anodized aluminum and stainless steel

INSTALLATION MOUNTS

We manufacture a comprehensive selection of metal and non-metallic surface and flush mount boxes and decorative surrounds for all sizes of Wikk wall switches. These installation mounts are used for a variety of reasons - to deter snagging or vandalism, enable wireless transmission, offer a decorative finished look, or a combination thereof. Examples of our installation mounts include:

• Wik-Scutcheon – escutcheon for 4R and 6R series switches, in metal and ABS material (WKS-6, WKS-4, WKS-4RF)
• Surface box for 4x4, 6x6 and 6R series switches, in black ABS material (SURF SQ 4&6, SURF 6R)
• Surface box for AA and N/S series in black ABS material (Jamb Surface Box)

BOLLARD POSTS

Bollards serve as a remote wall upon which an automatic door activation, access control or annunciation device can be mounted, in the event that mounting such items to the surface adjacent to the door is impractical.

Wikk bollards can be round or square with a 152mm (6in) dimension. The bollard posts can be surface-mounted (1,067mm (42in) tall) or in-ground (1,372mm (54in) tall) and they are available in architectural-grade anodized aluminum, stainless steel and brass finishes.

The standard mortised removable cap is designed to hold a bollard transmitter (BOLTRAN) and is manufactured from HDPE to transmit radio frequencies.

Square bollards can accommodate all flat switch sizes, while the round bollards typically use Wikk’s exclusive, heavy-duty 152mm x 152mm (6in x 6in) curved switch (6C-3WR, 6C-5WR). Also available is an adaptor cuff to mount a square 114mm (4.5in) product onto a round bollard. Custom heights, preps, modifications, and other various options are also available.
