Covers and Frames – New Range Provides Safety Benefits

07 October 2008

Safety is top of the list on any building site, which is why Wavin has developed a safer solution for access to drainage systems with its range of lightweight polypropylene covers and frames. The lightweight units make for easy and safe on-site handling and installation.

The covers and frames, designed with strength and safety in mind, can accommodate a variety of applications to give access to underground drainage systems. For added security, all units have a dual fixing system; the frame can be fixed to the shaft and then the cover can be fixed to the frame.

The units are kitemarked to BS 7158:2001 with both the round 4D927 and square 4D920 designed to bear a 15kN load when unsupported. The 4D920 is designed to withstand a 50kN (5t) load when surrounded by a concrete plinth. There is a choice of two access diameters; the 4D920 offers restricted access of 350mm for all depth applications and the 4D927 offers 450mm access for depth applications up to 1.2m. They can be used with either universal or non-entry inspection chambers, have a standardised non-slip finish and provide an optimal surface finish for block paviors, tarmac and others.
