Date
04 Feb 2010

Abstract

Improvements in urban design education and training from early schooling to professional development is a key part of UK urban regeneration. Another key part of urban regeneration policy is the need for high standards in building and urban design.

This white paper for the UK minister for housing, planning and regeneration by working group chairman Sir Stuart Lipton, chairman of the UK Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), identifies potential improvements to urban design education and training.

The report contains detailed analysis on how the UK can acquire design skills across all built environment disciplines to help deliver an urban renaissance, and how it can go about delivering a whole range of economic, social and environmental benefits.
