Tsunami Evacuation Buildings (TEBs): A New Risk Management Approach to Cascadia Earthquakes and Tsunamis

16 April 2010

This 2009 publication entitled "Tsunami Evacuation Buildings (TEBs): A New Risk Management Approach to Cascadia Earthquakes and Tsunamis" evaluates the need for buildings to be designed with natural disasters in mind.

The white paper, written by a group of architects, engineers, academics and wave specialists, deals with both the structural designs of TEBs and the wave pattern itself.

It uses Cannon Beach city hall in Oregon, US, as an existing example for other seaside communities in danger of being swept away. It concludes by simulating a tsunami hitting Cannon Beach and predicting what level of damage would be caused by such a natural disaster.
