Draft 2010 California Green Building Standards Code
The 2010 California Green Buildings Standard Code was created by the State Department for Housing and Community Development, the California Building Standards Commission, Division of the State Architect and Structural Safety, and the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.
The code is also known as the CALGreen Code and contains building standards applicable to occupancies that fall under the authority of different state agencies. It aims to enhance the design and construction of buildings to elicit a positive environmental impact while encouraging sustainable construction practices, which will, in turn, enhance public health, safety and general welfare.
Building concepts will be improved in categories such as planning and design, energy efficiency, water efficiency and conservation, material conservation and resource efficiency and environmental quality.
