Architecture Foundation Defers Plans For HQ

18 February 2008

The Architecture Foundation (AF) has announced it will defer plans to build new headquarters, concentrating instead on expansion plans with the help of a major donation.

The announcement follows news that plans to build a £5m Zaha Hadid-designed scheme in Southwark, London, were dropped after difficulties over agreeing a tender.

The building would have provided exhibitions, event spaces and administrative offices for the foundation.

The AF board says it would be not be proceeding with a new building under current conditions but will instead use a £250,000 donation from a private donor to help support its future programme.
