The World Mammoth and Permafrost Museum in Siberia is one of 30 projects to have been awarded for exceptional work by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
The winners were chosen from 400 entries in 13 countries in the categories of architecture, interior architecture and projects.
Other winners include Joel Sanders, architect for the Yale University Art Gallery Media Lounge, and Toshiko Mori, architect for the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems.
The AIA also announced the creation of the Building Types Award, cosponsored by the Boston Society of Architects, for excellence in the fields of educational facility design, sustainable design and urban design.
The award ceremony will take place on the 30 April at New York's Center for Architecture and will be followed by an exhibition.
