Dubai's Waterfront City Plans Complete

14 March 2008

Plans for Dubai's new Waterfront City, its largest development to date, are complete.

The city, to be built by Dubai-based developer Nakheel, will provide homes for a prospective 1.5 million people, doubling Dubai's population and creating approximately one million jobs.

Covering a total floor area of 11,800,00m², the design compromises a central island surrounded by four neighbouring districts - the Boulevard, Madinat Al Soor, the Resort and the Marina.

The city is designed with the density of Manhattan in mind and offers a compact solution for a modern-day metropolis, say designers the Office for Metropolitan Architecture.

The city has a predicted residential population of 92,000 and working population of 310,000 people.
