His plan may have looked stunning, but the architect who has proposed a new 'hat' for the Eiffel Tower in Paris is now putting out fires.
Serero Architects principal David Serero says despite submitting his design to the Eiffel Tower's management group, no design competition had been announced and no changes to date have been planned.
Serero's design would have seen the top floor of the Eiffel Tower extended using a high-performance carbon Kevlar structure, which frills like a hat around the top tower.
The architect says it would extend the usable floor area from 280m² to 580m².
However, the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel says it has never envisaged any changes to the tower's appearance.
