The Burj Dubai tower, under construction in the United Arab Emirates, is to become the world's tallest man-made structure.
Developers Emaar have yet to reveal what the final height of Burj Dubai will be but it is expected to reach 900m when completed early next year.
At 160 storeys it is already the world's tallest building, exceeding the 508m Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan.
The 629m KVLY-TV mast in the US previously held the title.
When completed, Burj Dubai will have used 330,000m³ of concrete, 39,000t of steel reinforcement and 142,000m³ of glass.
Burj Dubai consists of a luxury hotel with 39 floors, a 108-story apartment complex and an office section and will be the centerpiece of a large-scale, multi-use district in Dubai.
