Herzog & de Meuron to Revise Tate Plans

11 April 2008

Swiss architect Herzog & de Meuron is to revise designs for the £130m Tate Modern art gallery extension.

The architect is to rework the interior and exterior of the landmark building and is due to make recommendations to a committee over the next few weeks.

Possible modifications to the design include new layers of sloping brickwork to replace glass on the exterior of the gallery.

Construction of the Tate extension is managed by Mace and is expected to comprise about 23,400m² of space across 11 floors.
