North of England Sports Stadium Plans Underway

23 April 2008

Plans are underway to build a new sports stadium in Salford, Manchester, in the north of England, according to developers Red City.

Sports stadium management consultants Drivers Jonas will deliver the new 20,000-seater City of Salford Stadium and other leisure facilities in the local area.

AFL Architects has also been chosen to work on the the new home of Salford City Reds rugby league club, following AFL's successful completion of the 2002 Commonwealth Games Stadium in Manchester.

"The City of Salford Stadium is going to be one of the most visible sporting venues in the country so the design is hugely important," says AFL's Sports Director John Roberts.

A luxury four-star hotel and exhibition and conferencing facilities are also being built nearby.
