The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the shortlist for its regional awards, including a public toilet in a car park in Kent.
The toilet in Gravesend, designed by London-based Plastik Architects, is one of eight Kent buildings shortlisted for the awards.
Other contenders include Chelsea Football Club's training HQ in Cobham, Surrey, The Lightbox museum and art gallery in Woking, also in Surrey, and the Royal Court development at St Peter Port in Guernsey.
A controversial housing development in Langworthy, in the the north-west, has also been shortlisted.
The innovative houses in Chimney Pot Park have two bedrooms on the ground floor with a living room upstairs and the kitchen in the roof.
The houses have received some negative press, with critics saying that the development may force local people out of the area.
The awards, for buildings completed and occupied between 1 January 2006 and 21 February 2008, will be judged by a regional jury, with the winners announced at the end of May.
The winners will then go forward for the RIBA national award.
