Green Homes Support Local Jobs

08 February 2010

Building homes using eco-friendly materials and methods will help support local jobs, providing impetus to local economies in the UK, The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment said.

The foundation is currently in the process of developing its natural house pilot home at the Building Research Establishment close to Watford, UK.

The charity organisation has conducted research, which has shown that the houses made from aerated clay blocks can support 90,000 jobs.

Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment chief executive Hank Dittmar said regionally produced materials that can be assembled on site support local jobs, regional industry and aid in carbon reduction.
