British Land and the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) will develop a £64m shopping centre in Whiteley, Hampshire, UK.

Designed by Corstophine and Wright, the 300,000ft2 Whiteley Shopping Centre will comprise over 50 units totalling 242,000ft2 of retail space, 58,000ft2 of restaurants, cafes and other facilities, and 1,136 free car parking spaces.

The facility will regenerate the existing outlet scheme into a significant shopping centre destination that includes contemporary shop units with double-height glazing and oak panels centred around a new town square.

The construction work on the project is scheduled to commence in early 2012 and be completed in spring 2013.
