British automaker Jaguar Land Rover has selected Vinci Construction for the expansion of its Midland based engine manufacturing centre.

The firm intends to invest £450m for the expansion plan, which has been claimed to double the size of the facility.

The expansion programme has been initiated by the company to meet the global demand for its current and future vehicle models.

Designs for the 11m high, L-shaped factory building, which represents the expansion, have been prepared by Associated Architects, reports Construction Enquirer.

"The decision to expand our operations at the site provides a clear signal of our commitment to meeting customer demand."

Severfield is supposed to have won the huge steelwork contract for the 900,000ft² development, which is expected to be set up within 18 months.
