Kone wins elevators supply contract for Park District project in US


Finland-based engineering services firm Kone has secured a contract to provide 18 elevators to the mixed-use Park District project in downtown Dallas, Texas.

The 916,000ft² Park District is located at 2101 Pearl Street, and consists of a 19-storey shell office building with four additional garage levels below grade, and a 32-storey residential tower.

The project is also set to feature landscaping, a ground-floor retail area with a five-storey parking garage above grade, finished amenity space for the apartments and shell retail lots.

Kone will provide ten MiniSpace elevators, six MonoSpace elevators and two EcoSpace elevators to Park District under the new agreement.

The company will also equip nine of the elevator units with a new control system known as Kone Destination, which increases the elevator systems' ability to handle the traffic flow in high-rise buildings.

"Unlike conventional elevator control systems, Kone Destination incorporates the desired floors and the number of waiting passengers to significantly improve elevator convenience and efficiency."

Kone Americas executive vice-president Larry Wash said: “To help ensure a safe and comfortable ride, Kone is driving global innovation with our Smart Building solutions, such as Kone Destination.

“Unlike conventional elevator control systems, which only register the desired travel direction, Kone Destination incorporates the desired floors and the number of waiting passengers to significantly improve elevator convenience and efficiency.”

The Park District project has been designed by HKS Architects, and will be developed by Trammell Crow Company (TTC) and its joint venture partner Metlife.

Tenants already confirmed for the site include Princewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and TCC’s residential subsidiary High Street Residential.
