Southampton City Council in the UK has selected Lovell, a subsidiary of Morgan Sindall Group, for three estate regeneration projects worth a total of £28m
Lovell, who will deliver more than 200 new homes under the scheme, will work with social housing provider First Wessex in three suburbs of Southampton - Exford Avenue in Harefield, Laxton Close in Sholing and Meggeson Avenue in Bitterne Park.
Southampton City Council senior manager for skills, economy and housing renewal Barbara Compton said: "Southampton City Council is driving forward an ambitious estate regeneration programme to improve the lives of residents across the city."
The new homes, which will range between one and four-bedroom houses and apartments, will replace existing housing and will be available for market rental, social rental and shared ownership.
Lovell will also replace an existing parade of shops with seven new shops and move a children's play area at Exford Avenue.
The new housing at all three sites will incorporate sustainable features, including solar photovoltaic panels.
Work on the five-year construction programme is expected to begin in May 2012.
