Ornate Spaces unveils 3XN-designed mixed-use project in Mumbai, India

Indian developer Ornate Spaces has unveiled a new residential and mixed-use project, Grove Towers, designed by Denmark-based 3XN.

The 78,000m² project in Mumbai is inspired by Indian nature and Mumbai's mangroves.

The project comprises two towers, which will be connected at the lower floors for retail outlets, and rise up to provide space for amenities and residential accommodations.

Each of the towers offers two-directional views, towards the mangroves to the north and the Indian Ocean to the west.

The towers feature more than 2,500m² of vertical gardens, which would lower carbon dioxide levels in Mumbai's humid and congested environment.

3XN integrated its innovative unit GXN in the design process as part of the building design, to reduce direct solar gain and maximise natural ventilation.3XN aims to receive LEED Gold certification for the design.

"I want this to be a vertical community that brings people together, and becomes a setting for growth and life."

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, 3XN principal and creative director Kim Herforth Nielsen said that, with this design for Grove Towers, the company wanted to create something special for Mumbaikars and Ornate Spaces.

"Each time I visit, I am overwhelmed at how much I see the strength of community in all aspects of Indian life. I want this to be a vertical community that brings people together, and becomes a setting for growth and life," Nielsen said.

Danish Ambassador to India, Freddy Svane, said this unique project highlights the unlimited potential in combining Danish world-class architectural skills, engineering and cutting-edge technologies with Indian partners.

"Notably, the collaboration with visionary developer, Ornate Spaces, has resulted in an iconic landmark for India, truly changing the skyline of Mumbai," Svane said.

Grove Towers construction work is expected to take three years.
