London-based Weston Williamson + Partners has won an international architectural competition organised by Bibliotheca Alexandrina to design the Science City complex in Egypt.

Weston Williamson + Partners' co-founder Chris Williamson was quoted by Architectsjournal as saying: “We are proud to have won.
“Needless to say that Egypt has a unique cultural heritage, but we were also attracted by the ambition of the project clearly expressed through the brief.
“We look forward to developing the design and creating something worthy for Egypt’s future generations.”

The new complex will be located on the western side of Cairo at the centre of the 6th of October City in Giza Governorate. Spanning 400km2, the city was established by former Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat in 1979, reported Architectsjournal.
The Science City complex will feature a museum, conference centre, an exhibition hall, research hub, observation tower, planetarium, and outdoor park, reported the journal.
