International standards of architectural safety have become increasingly stringent in recent years, and protection against fire is considered especially vital.
While there isn’t always uniform regulation across every jurisdiction – fire safety regulations differ between EU member states, for example – it’s best for developers to err on the side of caution when it comes to making their buildings inflammable.
This means investing in a product which can meet and even surpass the flammability regulations of multiple nations, knowing that wherever they choose to build they can tap into a reliable source of regulatory-compliant materials.
Enter etalbond® FR, a fire retardant aluminium composite panel utilised in construction projects across the globe. Manufactured by Elval Colour, the aluminium composite panels promote high standards in both safety and aesthetics. It can help to slow, stop or reduce the intensity of flames in the event of a fire.
etalbond® FR is a sandwich-style composite panel with fire retardant core bonded between two fine coated aluminium sheets. These sheets are produced to core thicknesses of 3mm, 4mm or 6mm, with the exterior sheets at a thickness of 0.5mm.
etalbond® FR can be purchased in a wide variety of shades and textures
The etalbond® FR aluminium composite panels are manufactured in standard widths of 1250mm and 1500mm, or in minimum 1000mm and maximum 2000mm upon agreement. The standard length of the panels is 3200mm and upon agreement can be produced also in any length between 1000mm and 13000 mm. This means they can be utilised in a diverse range of projects and can be uniquely customised for the individual needs of each building site.
etalbond® FR has now been utilised in the façade of many iconic structures, such as the Mall of Qatar, the Baku Olympic Stadium and the Price Waterhouse Cooper offices in Johannesburg.
Block colours can create a striking and landscape-defining visage for a building, which is why etalbond® FR can be purchased in the full range of RAL colours. As well as solid colour, these aluminium composite panels are available in premium metallic and dual/prismatic shades. Most suited for projects constructed on plots which allow them to be exposed to a variety of changing light conditions, these iridescent shades allow a building to give off a vivid, glowing appearance.
The Ceramic/TX line of etalbond® FR products incorporates elements of nature into a build, giving a special structured effect specifically designed to be a substitute for ceramic or stone material. The panels can also be ordered in imitations of corten steel, paginated copper, marble, granite and wood, with textures which feel just like the real thing.
