DP Architects have worked with Elval Colour for several years, using the company’s coated aluminium solutions in the design of building envelopes across the globe.
DP’s collective of specialists offers innovative design solutions to its clients over a spectrum of delivery needs, from environmentally-friendly design to spatial planning, but it’s the company’s façades which are redefining cityscapes across Asia and beyond using products like etalbond.
Elval Colour has helped many of DP’s projects realise their potential, from the TRX Mall in Kuala Lumpur to the Punggol Town Hub in Singapore.
Design Build caught up with DP Façade director Mathieu Meur to talk about Elval Colour, and how his company has been utilising its solutions.
Chloe Kent: Which Elval Colour products have you been able to work with?
Mathieu Meur: We typically work with Elval Colour’s etalbond A2 panels, which have the highest level of fire retardancy available for composite panels. As for the finish, this depends on the type of project, its location, as well as the architectural design intent and vision for the façade of the building.
CK: Which projects have you used these products in?
MM: We have specified and used the products on a variety of building typologies, including retail, institutional, commercial, etc. These projects are located in multiple countries across Asia and beyond, as we operate virtually globally.
CK: What were your requirements when you chose to work with Elval Colour, and why did you choose them over other companies who supply similar goods?
MM: Quality and service are the prime considerations when choosing a supplier for our projects. In this respect, Elval Colour has more than answered our expectations. In addition, in some instances, they were able to offer unique finish types that we were not able to source from elsewhere.
CK: What are the benefits of Elval Colour’s products to you?
MM: The service level is excellent. Technical queries are answered promptly, as well as requests for samples. In addition, the ongoing quality audits by independent testing laboratories ensure a consistent quality level throughout all projects.
CK: Will you be using Elval Colour again in the future?
MM: Most certainly. Aluminium composite panels offer a number of advantages over other metal cladding types, including flatness, colour consistency, rigidity and a wide range of durable finishes that are typically not available on other metal cladding surfaces.
