The Office for National Statistics reports that the importance of online shopping has increased in the last few years. According to a survey by the Institute for Public Opinion Research in Allensbach, in 2012 even more people will turn to shopping on the internet. MEVACO has recognised these current trends and is offering customers a new re-launched online shop for the best shopping and delivery services.

Under the slogan "fascinatingly simple", MEVACO, as a leading manufacturer and supplier, offers its customers throughout Europe customised expanded metal, perforated metal sheet and mesh. "Fascinatingly simple" was the basic principle for the re-launch of the online-shop.

"The customer wants it to be as easy as possible", European sales manager Ägidus Jung says of the approach. "The ordering process should not be stressful, everything has to be quick and simple."

An additional consideration was that a large number of customers get their inspiration directly from the MEVACO homepage. Therefore, the new online display integrates the entire product range, including all potential product configurations. Moreover, the MEVACO catalogue is also available as a flip page e-document. Last but not least, a digital showroom displays unusual application suggestions in terms of outdoor facilities, façades, interior decoration and furniture, which can be viewed from different perspectives.

A further aspect that plays a fundamentally important role in MEVACO’s new website: "We are the only online shop in the entire branch," explains Ägidus Jung, "where customers can calculate the cost depending on the amounts ordered. Because many of our customers configure their desired products themselves, this is an impressive accomplishment."

MEVACO customers really benefit from these advantages from the very first order onwards. The amount or type of product ordered is not important; customers can see the price immediately, even with privately ordered products. A well-functioning online shop is, however, only half the battle. Stress-free shopping on the internet requires smooth delivery logistics. "In this case we have really set ourselves a high target," states Ägidus Jung.

"Anything ordered in the online shop by 4pm is despatched on the same day. For configured products, this takes from one to a maximum of four days. That makes us the branch leaders in fast delivery."

MEVACO uses an electronic test system to monitor this delivery system, the only one of its kind in Europe. "If our punctuality percentage point drops to 99%, alarm bells start to ring," explains Ägidus Jung. "We have to be tough on ourselves, so that we can guarantee our customers a time advantage."

So, has the optimal online shopping experience been achieved? Ägidus Jung is already thinking ahead: "Because we strive to offer the best service in the entire branch, better is, of course, always the enemy of good. That is why we are already working on our online shop 2.0." Here, the surveys from Allenbach also help in target setting.

Researchers believe that, in the future, companies will need to incorporate the customers’ opinion-formation processes into the online business. Ägidus Jung takes up this idea: "In the future, we aim to be at the forefront of all innovative developments that will benefit our customers, in terms of both technology and internet services."
