Mapress Press Indicators: The Innovative Piping Solution from Geberit
Mapress supply systems technology has been at the forefront of the industry for 40 years, with Geberit’s pressfitting systems being specified for applications worldwide; from drinking water systems to industrial piping networks.
Mapress connections are specifically designed and manufactured to meet demanding industrial requirements; withstanding high temperatures and pressure whilst retaining excellent hygiene standards. Importantly, they are both fire and corrosion resistant. With no need for welding, screwing or soldering, Geberit’s revolutionary pressing technology allows for quick, safe and reliable installation without hot works. For 2009, Geberit has unveiled a significant improvement to the Mapress system – the Mapress Pressing Indicator.
The pressing indicator consists of a very thin plastic foil encasing the pressing shoulder. The foil is removed during the pressing operation, visibly indicating a pressed joint. This means prior to the leak test, installers can now instantly identify any unpressed joints. The press indicator complements Geberit’s leak path seal that allows a fitting to leak if not pressed. Together these give a formidable defence against installation errors.
Each indicator displays the Geberit logo and fitting size. They are colour coded according to material to give clear identification and to aid processing. A blue indicator represents stainless steel fittings, red identifies carbon steel, white identifies copper and black is for CuNiFe. Accompanying the fittings are Mapress protection plugs that are fixed into each fitting to protect supply networks from dust and dirt. These are also colour coded for ease of installation – white plugs are for standard applications, yellow is for gas and grey is for special applications. Each protection plug is marked with the fitting size and can be reused to seal pipe work during installation.
The new fittings are to be launched in phases; stainless steel and carbon steel are already available, followed by CuNiFe in May and copper in June. Finally, gas and industrial application indicators will be available from October 2009.
