DB Glass, one of the largest sealed unit manufacturers in Southern England, is offering Swisspacer V spacer bar in its sealed units. As a result, DB Glass, which is part of the Epwin Group, is able to supply top performing sealed units, which help their customers achieve the highest window energy ratings (WERs).

The manufacturer, which is currently producing over 16,000 units a week, started using Swisspacer V six months ago. General manager Steve Webber said: “When we looked at which warm edge spacer to use we had specific requirements. We wanted to use a rigid, high-performance, traditional looking spacer bar, which unlike foam spacers did not involve the need for capital expenditure in specialised machinery. After a thorough review of all the warm edge spacers on the market, we felt Swisspacer V ticked all the boxes.”

Mr Webber says DB Glass is increasingly being asked to produce top energy performing sealed units, as awareness of their benefits grows. He said: “Homeowners are becoming increasingly aware of energy saving products and are now demanding high performance windows. The importance of being able to offer WERs is also growing amongst window companies, as they see the performance advantage as a vital tool to help them win the sale. The type of spacer bar used plays a very important part and will often make a difference between which rating the window achieves. The results of our tests proved that on a number of occasions only by using Swisspacer V could we achieve the required result.”

DB Glass is offering Swisspacer V in a choice of 3 standard colours: black, light grey and white. They feel that offering an option of different colours gives their customers further scope for differentiation.
