Lincoln-based sealed unit manufacturer Allenby Glass has passed EN1279 Part 3 at the first attempt using Swisspacer V. Allenby Glass has been using Swisspacer V for two years and buys through Magden. It chose to use Swisspacer once it had looked at all the warm edge options. Owner Dave Harris comments: “Once we had seen what was on offer, we found that Swisspacer was the best. It is the easiest to use, offers the best performance and we can produce Georgian bars with it.”

The configuration of Allenby Glass’ high performance sealed unit is Pilkington K GlassTM, Pilkington OptiwhiteTM, Swisspacer V and argon gas filling. Swisspacer V is used in a third of Allenby Glass’ sealed units and demand is growing.

“We use Swisspacer in sealed units which help customers get an ‘A’ or a ‘B’ rating,” continues Dave. “Customers choose which sealed unit best suits their requirements. But Swisspacer has other benefits too. Some of our customers use it as it reduces the condensation around the edge of the window. Our customers are very happy with the performance of Swisspacer. Demand is growing and this is being driven by proposed changes in the building regulations.”

Allenby Glass achieved EN1279 Part 3 in December 2009. The unit tested had Swisspacer V, corner keys and manual gas filling with a PIB primary seal and a hot melt secondary seal. It was submitted for testing by CEN Solutions. Dave adds: “We’re delighted to achieve the standard at the first attempt. Achieving the standard reassures our customers that they are buying the best quality sealed units.”
