Canada’s construction industry registered a 4.3% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.48% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.15% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 0.81% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.38% in August 2021, registering a 10% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 17.69% share, an increase of 36.84% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.24%, registering a 5.88% rise from July 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.84%, up 18.18% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 24.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s construction industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust posted 31 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Stantec with 21 jobs and a 61.54% growth. Altus Group with 16 IT jobs and Hatch with 15 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 65.12% decrease, respectively, while WSP Global recorded an increase of 160% with 13 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.67%, up by 15.29% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.13% share, registered an increase of 36% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.84% share, down 43.48% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.36%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
