The global consumer industry noticed a 2.7% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 over the previous month, led by Haier Group’s 5.13% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The consumer industry’s overall hiring activity declined 0.03% when compared with May 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.95% share of the global consumer industry’s hiring activity in June 2021, up 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2021 were 2.33% lower compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 4.34% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive consumer IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 51.1% emerged as the top IT occupation in the consumer hiring activity in June 2021, a 1.89% an increase over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 16.09% in June 2021, down 25.23% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with an 11.4% share in June 2021, decline of 8.76% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 9.56% share in June 2021 and rise of 0.52% over May 2021.

Top five consumer companies by recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 25.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global consumer industry during June 2021 over May 2021.

Haier Group posted 103 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 19.53% over the previous month, followed by Carlsberg with 84 jobs and a 22.22% decline. Signify with 65 IT jobs and Fujitsu General with 62 jobs, recorded a 9.72% decline and a 13.89% drop, respectively, while Carrier Global recorded a 51.59% drop with 61 job postings during June 2021.

Regional composition of IT hiring in consumer industry

Europe emerged as the leading region in the global consumer IT hiring activity in June 2021 with a 39.24% share, which marked a 1.87% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 38.35%, registering a 3.99% month-on-month decline.Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with an 18.43% share and a 20.09% decline over May 2021.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.54% and a month-on-month growth of 6.25%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.44%, registering a 141.67% an increase over the previous month.
