Europe’s construction industry IT hiring activity drops 2.9%  in August 2021

Europe witnessed a 2.9% drop in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen a decrease of 1.1% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.69% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 51.85% in August 2021, a 16% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.46% in August 2021, marking a 10.95% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.96% in August 2021, a 26.8% drop from July 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 6.02% in August 2021, a 4.88% decline over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 71.61% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s construction industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Bouygues posted 63 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 600% over the previous month, followed by Strabag with 62 jobs and an 82.35% growth. Vinci with 61 IT jobs and Eberspacher Climate Control Systems GmbHKG with 45 jobs, recorded a 32.61% rise and an 18.42% rise, respectively, while Alpiq Anlagentechnik recorded a 25% increase with 35 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s construction industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 29.78% share in August 2021, a 32.04% decrease over July 2021. France featured next with a 20.37% share, up 46.67% over the previous month. Germany recorded a 13.73% share, a growth of 5.95% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.77%, down by 2.45% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 12.81% share, registered a decline of 9.78% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 12.35% share, down 39.85% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.08%, recording a month-on-month decline of 46.15%.
