Hong Kong’s construction industry registered a 15.9% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.97% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.67% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Hong Kong’s construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.78% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong’s construction industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.56% in August 2021, registering a 177.78% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 20% share, a flat growth over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.89%, registering a 300% rise from July 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 8.89%, up 33.33% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in Hong Kong’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 387.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Hong Kong’s construction industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust posted 16 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by China Resources Cement Holdings with 8 jobs and a 33.33% growth. Arup Group with 8 IT jobs and Sun Hung Kai Properties with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 300% flat growth, respectively, while AECOM recorded an increase of 200% with 3 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.22%, up by 211.11% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 24.44% share, registered an increase of 450% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.33% share, up 200% over July 2021.
