The global consumer industry noticed a 2.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 over the previous month, led by Haier Group’s 7.75% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The consumer industry’s overall hiring activity declined 3.03% when compared with June 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.24% share of the global consumer industry’s hiring activity in July 2021, up 0.23% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of July 2021 were 0.49% higher compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 0.94% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive consumer IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 49.49% emerged as the top IT occupation in the consumer hiring activity in July 2021, a 2.46% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 14.25% in July 2021, up 25% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 14.12% share in July 2021, decline of 3.65% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 9.4% share in July 2021 and rise of 0.48% over June 2021.
Top five consumer companies by recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average an increase of 76.57% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global consumer industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
Haier Group posted 174 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 72.28% over the previous month, followed by Fujitsu General with 169 jobs and a 172.58% rise. British American Tobacco with 77 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 60 jobs, recorded a 42.59% increase and a 1.69% growth, respectively, while Under Armour recorded a 103.7% growth with 55 job postings during July 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in consumer industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global consumer IT hiring activity in July 2021 with a 38.44% share, which marked a 2.62% growth over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 34.57%, registering a 7.73% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 24.23% share and a 26.81% rise over June 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.45% and a month-on-month growth of 3.77%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.31%, registering a 63.16% drop over the previous month.
