North America witnessed a 0.4% decline in IT hiring activity in the consumer industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
July 2021 has seen a decrease of 1.29% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.18% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 50.52% in July 2021, a 1.36% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 13.56% in July 2021, marking a 7.34% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.44% in July 2021, a 17.17% growth from June 2021.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 10.89% in July 2021, a 22.08% rise over the previous month.
Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 31.65% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Under Armour posted 54 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by PepsiCo with 44 jobs and a 7.32% growth. Haier Group with 29 IT jobs and JBS with 29 jobs, recorded a 262.5% growth and a 163.64% increase, respectively, while Peloton Interactive recorded a 48.08% decline with 27 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with an 88.64% share in July 2021, a 0.92% rise over June 2021. Mexico featured next with a 5.91% share, up 50% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 5.45% share, a drop of 4.08% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.72%, up by 4.8% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.75% share, a decline of 10.48% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.95% share, up 24.04% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.58%, recording a month-on-month decline of 37.5%.
