June 2021 has seen an decrease of 1.84% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.48% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering decrease of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 54.81% in June 2021, a 52.12% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.76% in June 2021, marking a 20.28% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.52% in June 2021, a 51.7% drop from May 2021.

Top five construction companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 33.93% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s construction industry during June 2021 over previous month.

Black & Veatch posted 156 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a decline of 57.61% over the previous month, followed by Owens Corning with 91 jobs and a 1.09% drop. Zillow Group with 73 IT jobs and KBR with 51 jobs, recorded a 14.06% growth and a 3.77% drop, respectively, while Jones Lang LaSalle recorded a 9.52% decline with 38 job postings during June 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s construction industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with an 89.26% share in June 2021, a 45.32% decline over May 2021. Canada featured next with a 9.63% share, down 56.16% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.11% share, a drop of 51.72% compared with May 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.17%, down by 39.39% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.31% share, a decline of 63.69% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.65% share, up 27.2% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.88%, recording a month-on-month decline of 90.43%.
