The UK construction industry registered a 5.9% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 0.4% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.69% share in June 2021, recording an increase of 1.63% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK construction industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.18% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK construction industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.65% in June 2021, a 53.32% drop over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 19.06% share, decline of 10% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 15.29%, registering an 18.75% decline from May 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.06%, down 14.29% over the previous month.
Top five construction companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 52.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK construction industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Stantec posted 79 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 82.21% over the previous month, followed by AECOM with 71 jobs and a 2266.67% growth. SYSTRA MVA Consulting (India) with 44 IT jobs and Ferrovial with 25 jobs, recorded a 69.23% growth and a 66.67% increase, respectively, while The British LandPLC recorded a 20% an increase with 24 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.24%, down by 25.08% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 35.29% share, a decline of 54.68% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.65% share, down 35.14% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.82%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 33.33%.
