The US construction industry registered a 10.1% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 2.12% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.31% share in June 2021, recording an increase of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.9% in June 2021, a 50.36% drop over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 13.99% share, decline of 13.74% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.55%, registering a 50.49% decline from May 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 6.95%, down 7.14% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in the US IT recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 33.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US construction industry during June 2021 over May 2021.

Black & Veatch posted 153 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 57.62% over the previous month, followed by Owens Corning with 91 jobs and a 1.09% drop. Zillow Group with 73 IT jobs and KBR with 51 jobs, recorded a 14.06% growth and a 1.92% decline, respectively, while Jones Lang LaSalle recorded a 7.5% decline with 37 job postings during June 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.1%, down by 38.17% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.89% share, a decline of 60.99% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.39% share, up 24.11% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.62%, recording a month-on-month decline of 93.52%.
