Construction & Real Estate industry cross border M&A deals total $3.56bn globally in March 2021

Total construction & real estate industry cross border M&A deals worth $3.56bn were announced globally in March 2021, led by Kaisa Group Holdings’ $1.99bn acquisition of Hong Da Development & Investment Holding, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 44.1% over the previous month of $2.47bn and a drop of 8.5% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $3.89bn.

Comparing cross border M&A deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $3.02bn. At the country level, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China topped the list in terms of deal value at $2.75bn.

In terms of volumes, Europe emerged as the top region for construction & real estate industry cross border M&A deals globally, followed by Asia-Pacific and then North America.

The top country in terms of cross border M&A deals activity in March 2021 was the UK with seven deals, followed by the US with three and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China with three.

In 2021, as of March, construction & real estate cross border M&A deals worth $16.9bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 12.1% year on year.

The top five cross border M&A deals accounted for 95.7% of the overall value during March 2021.

The combined value of the top five construction & real estate cross border M&A deals stood at $3.41bn, against the overall value of $3.56bn recorded for the month.

1) Kaisa Group Holdings’ $1.99bn acquisition of Hong Da Development & Investment Holding

2) The $761.64m acquisition of Logic Capital by Kaisa Group Holdings

3) Fluidra’s $245m acquisition of Custom Molded Products

4) The $214.2m acquisition of Sixth Of October For Development Investment Company SODIC by Aldar Properties

5) Longhu Jiayue Property Services’ acquisition of Yida Service Group for $196.82m.
