Laing O’Rourke has been selected as the preferred contractor to carry out the retail extension work of Brent Cross shopping centre in London, UK.

The selection follows a ttwo-stagetender process launched by Brent Cross Shopping Centre co-owners Hammerson and Standard Life Investments for the main construction works, which are estimated to be valued at £700m.

A pre-construction services agreement was also signed between Laing O’Rourke and the joint owners following the latest selection.

Under the contract, Laing O’Rourke will work with Hammerson and Standard Life Investments to finalise the design and procurement for the modernisation works that are set to begin next year.

Laing O’Rourke UK Building head Liam Cummins said: “We will collaboratively define, then deliver, success for our clients, partners and the wider community on Brent Cross, undoubtedly one of London’s most exciting and anticipated retail regenerations.”
