HED completes Metropolis Tower II Residences in Los Angeles, US

Architecture and engineering firm Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) completed the glass-enveloped Metropolis Tower II Residences in Los Angeles, US.

The new 40-storey, 461ft-tall tower offers 514 condominium homes ranging from studios to two-bedroom units.

The building features a residential amenity level with an expansive outdoor landscaped deck on its 9th floor.


Interserve wins £105m project from Durham University

Construction group Interserve and its consortium were awarded a £105m project from Durham University to design, build, finance and operate two new college facilities in the UK.

The project is part of the university’s strategy to offer world-class research and education, as well as a wider student experience.

Interserve’s consortium includes fund and asset management firm Equitix and on-campus student accommodation developer and operator Campus Living Villages UK.

UNStudio and Cox Architecture win design competition in Melbourne

UNStudio and Cox Architecture won the Beulah competition to design a project with two twisting green towers in Melbourne, Australia.

One of the structures in the firms’ Green Spine design proposal will reach a height of 356.2m, making it the tallest building in the country.

Other shortlisted teams who submitted proposals included BIG, OMA, MVRDV, MAD and Coop Himmelb(l)au.


Rebuilding activities approved at Eagle Tower project

The State Building Commission of Wisconsin US approved rebuilding activities at the Eagle Tower project in Peninsula State Park, West Allis.

The new design will feature an 850ft-long access ramp leading to the top of a 60ft tower that supports a 1,000ft² observation deck.

In addition, the $2.07m project will feature a new trail linking the base of the ramp to a picnic and parking area, which will be repaved. Interpretive displays, benches and connections to present trails will also be built.


HFF provides $104m for mixed-use property in Indianapolis

Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (HFF) provided $104m in funding for 360 Market Square, a new 27-storey, mixed-use residential and retail property on the former Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, US.

On behalf of the borrower, Flaherty & Collins Properties, the HFF team worked to place the floating-rate loan with Heitman.

360 Market Square includes 292 apartment units with upscale condominium-quality finishes with around 42,000ft² of ground-floor allocated for retail space.


Gilbane, Stantec and QEA to build $108m high school in US

The Falls Church City School Board selected Gilbane, Stantec, and Quinn Evans Architects (QEA) to design and build the new $108m George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia, US.

The design-build team selection comes following the approval of a referendum by the Falls Church community to construct the new high school last November.

According to Stantec, the construction of the new building would be the final milestone in the process.
