Dubai-based property company Damac Properties will develop an educational and cultural dome in its AKOYA Oxygen master development community.

Ottawa’s planning committee approves Richcraft’s three towers
The Planning Committee of Ottawa in Canada approved a zoning application submitted by builder Richcraft to construct three towers at the corner of Carling and Preston Street.
The tower designs exceed the city building height limits, standing at 55 storeys-high, 45 storeys and the third at 18. The complex will be located at 845 Carling Ave, west of Preston Street.
According to the company, the three towers named The Sky will have total of 1,120 units.
Skanska to construct AstraZeneca HQ and research centre
AstraZeneca%20R&D.JPG” style=”padding: 10px” width=”200″ />Biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca awarded a contract worth about SEK3.7bn ($444m) to Skanska for construction management of the company’s research and development (R&D) centre and corporate headquarters.
Skanska commenced work on the project, which is slated for completion in 2017, and the client will begin occupying the site at the end of 2016.
In February, AstraZeneca secured permission from Cambridge City Council for construction its new, global R&D centre and corporate headquarters.
Paris approves MVRDV plan to redevelop Montparnasse Superblock
The city of Paris approved MVRDV’s plan to renovate the Vandamme mixed-use block in the Montparnasse area of Paris, France.
The urban block was designed in the early 1970s by French architect Pierre Dufau.
According to the Netherlands-based architecture firm, the urban block was a landmark building at the time but failed to adapt to society’s changing needs.
MVRDV added that the building had become a self-contained block lacking urban connectivity, discouraging pedestrian activity and without any sense of identity.
Studio Fuksas and Guida Moseley design Canberra convention centre
Italy-based architecture firm Studio Fuksas and Guida Moseley Brown Architects announced they will collaborate on designing a new convention centre in Canberra, Australia.
Named Australia Forum, the structure will feature wavy floors and a bulging, elliptical roof and will be located in the centre of Canberra at one apex of the National Triangle.
The 27,000m² convention centre will house a 3,000-seat plenary hall, a ballroom with a capacity to accommodate 1,500 diners and an exhibition hall, as well as administrative offices, meeting rooms, storage and shops.
Zaha Hadid Architects displays designs of Beijing’s new airport terminal
Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) unveiled the first images for Beijing’s new airport terminal building in China.
Planned to be built in Daxing, Beijing, the airport has been designed in collaboration with ADP Ingeniérie (ADPI) and is set to initially handle 45 million passengers a year, eventually rising to 72 million.
The airport will span a 700,000m² area, featuring a 5km-long facade and 82 aircraft stands.
Tishman is construction manager for $1.46bn 3 World Trade Center
A wholly owned subsidiary of AECOM, Tishman Construction was choosen as construction manager for Silverstein Properties’ 3 World Trade Center, which is being built at a cost of $1.46bn.
Designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership, 3 World Trade Center is planned to be located at 175 Greenwich Street and, according to AECOM, construction is underway at the site.
AECOM CEO Michael Burke said: "It is an honour to work with Silverstein Properties on their latest signature office tower in Lower Manhattan.
Tower Hamlets approves Make’s mixed-use tower design
London Borough of Tower Hamlets in the UK approved architectural company Make’s plan for a 53-storey, mixed-use tower at Meridian Gate on the Isle of Dogs in east London.
In its planning committee report, Tower Hamlets described the scheme as ‘an elegant tower, which makes a positive contribution to the skyline.’
Said to be developed by LBS Properties and Meridian Property Holdings, the sustainable scheme is expected to offer more than 400 private and affordable homes.
According to Make, the slender form of the tower frees 70% of the site to be used for new public realm and provide access to a café, public gardens and a children’s playground.
New terminal at Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport
The Chilean Government selected Aéroports de Paris, Vinci Airports and Astaldi to build a new terminal and operate the Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago for 20 years.
Aéroports de Paris, VINCI Airports and Astaldi worked together as the Nuevo Pudahuel consortium.
According to VINCI, the project consists of the management, as well as development of the 175,000m² Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport with 37 aircraft stands.
