Gibraltar Football Association submits plans for new national stadium

Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) submitted a planning application for the development of a new stadium to host international matches.

Ramboll was appointed by the GFA to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services and will be working closely with Dutch consultancy firm The Stadium Consultancy on this UEFA-compliant development.

Upon completion of the public consultation period, GFA will be able to proceed ahead for outline planning permission in September, thereby paving the way for construction to commence in the first quarter of 2019.


Olson Kundig chosen as lead architect for The Bob Dylan Center

The George Kaiser Family Foundation chose Seattle-based Olson Kundig to serve as lead architect and exhibit designer for The Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US.

Expected to open in 2021, the centre will serve as an exhibition space dedicated to the works of singer and songwriter Bob Dylan.

It will be located on Martin Luther King Boulevard south-east of the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa.

Multiplex to build residential tower  in Queens Place development

3L Alliance appointed global contractor Multiplex to build a residential tower in its $1bn Queens Place mixed-use development in Central Business District (CBD) of Melbourne, Australia.

The project is located at 350 Queen Street at the verge of Flagstaff Hill. It features twin towers with 1,500 apartments spanning 80 levels each set above a podium.

The development will offer retail and commercial office suites, as well as a public plaza with a laneway shopping precinct.


Multiplex wins £400m design and build contract for Broadway site in UK

Multiplex was selected by Northcare as the preferred bidder for the £400m design and build contract to redevelop a previous New Scotland Yard location in Westminster, London, UK.

The Broadway development scheme secured its planning consent in 2016.

This 1.72-acre mixed-use development will feature six towers rising from 14 to 20 storeys, offering 268 apartments and 142,000ft² of commercial and retail space.


£15.8m renovation begins at University of Leicester’s Brookfield site

UK-based Henry Boot Construction started the £15.8m renovation of the University of Leicester’s Brookfield campus.

The 19th century Brookfield House on London Road was once home to university benefactor Thomas Fielding Johnson.

This £15.8m site renovation will be undertaken in the coming months, including the main house, which will accommodate the university’s School of Business.


The Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s AK360 Campus Development and Expansion project in Buffalo, New York, US, entered a new phase with a new architectural structure on the north side of its campus.

According to the plan developed by the museum and OMA/Shohei Shigematsu, the new building will add 29,000ft² in space for displaying special exhibitions and the gallery’s art collection.

The new building will also feature several visitor amenities and a wraparound promenade that would visually connect the building interior with the existing landscape and campus.


Mark Goodman & Associates to build office building in Chicago

Mark Goodman & Associates unveiled plans to build 310 N Sangamon, an office building to be constructed in accordance with Passive House standards, in Chicago, US.

The office building will feature 12 stories with 268,000ft² of office space and a 7,800ft²  ground-floor retail area.

Passive House buildings follow a set of design standards that align with building systems, insulations and windows to create an airtight structure, reducing ecological footprint while increasing energy efficiency.


Willmott Dixon to develop £38m redevelopment scheme in Wales

Willmott Dixon was appointed by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council to deliver the £38m Taff Vale redevelopment project in Pontypridd, Wales, UK.

Under this scheme, two new office blocks and a gateway building offering spaces for a café, fitness centre, library, community facilities, customer contact point and new leisure centre will be constructed.

It will bring economic benefits to Pontypridd by providing 14,693m² of office space for more than 1,000 individuals.
