Dubai Municipality completes construction of first 3D-printed building
Dubai Municipality completed the construction of a new 3D-printed two-storey building featuring a height of 9.5m at a total area of 640m².
Claimed to be the first 3D printed structure worldwide, the structure is in line with the UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s directives to use 3D printing technology to establish 25% of the buildings in Dubai, UAE, by 2030.

Middlesbrough mayor unveils plan for UK’s digital city
Plans to launch a £250m digital city development in Middlesbrough, UK, were unveiled by Mayor Andy Preston.
An initial £45m project phase includes office and residential towers followed by a digital campus, a 750-seat indoor amphitheatre and a 400-seat outdoor amphitheatre to host events such as lectures, cultural events, and entertainment.
The first phase of the construction includes three 20-storey towers, slated to be started by next year. It will create up to 400 construction employment opportunities.

The 450ft hotel comes with 638 new luxury guest rooms.
Designed to resemble back-to-back guitars, complete with guitar faces and brightly lit strings, the engineering masterpiece is outfitted with floor-to-ceiling glass panes.

UK-based Westridge Construction was selected for the refurbishment work on the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre.
The Brighton Dome renovation project was suspended in July after R Durtnell & Sons entered a corporate voluntary arrangement with creditors.
The company was selected as the preferred interim contractor to continue the revamp work on the historic Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.
Empire State Building to open renovated 102nd-floor Observatory
The Empire State Building (ESB) opened the newly renovated 102nd-floor Observatory on 12 October.
The newly renovated Observatory features floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass elevator.
The elevator takes guests from the 86th floor to 102 through a newly renovated glass shaft.
Marshall wins contract for Scotland’s Linen Quarter redevelopment
Marshall Construction was awarded a contract for the redevelopment of the Linen Quarter in Dunfermline, Scotland.
The company is the principal contractor for the first two phases of the redevelopment scheme designed by JM Architects. The contract is valued at £11.25m ($13m).
Previously known as the Pilmuir Works, the Linen Quarter is located adjacent to the historic Carnegie Leisure Centre and Fire Station Creative.
