Columbia Property Trust JV agreed to construct $300m building in US

Columbia Property Trust and Normandy Real Estate Partners signed an agreement to form a joint venture (JV) to develop a $300m 799 Broadway boutique office building in Manhattan, New York, US.

In the ground-up project, which is slated for completion in the second half of 2020, Columbia will own a 50% stake.

Designed by Perkins+Will, the new 12-storey, loft-style 799 Broadway building will be located at the convergence of Union Square and Greenwich Village featuring 182,000ft² of boutique office space.


Bouygues received €146m building renovation contract from Emerige

Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France received a contract from French property development company Emerige to renovate 17 Boulevard Morland in Paris for €146m.

As part of the contract, Bouygues will renovate the complex, which will feature a 161-room hotel, a youth hostel, shops, a nursery, cultural amenity, and 199 homes.

The terrace of the 50m building will feature optical effects and 360° reflections designed by artist Olafur Eliasson in partnership with Studio Other Spaces.

Oxford Properties to build 36-storey commercial tower in Vancouver

Global real estate firm Oxford Properties Group unveiled the design of a AAA Class office tower, The Stack, to be established at 1133 Melville in Vancouver, Canada.

Spread across 540,000ft², the company started demolition on-site and will commence construction work in the first quarter of 2019.

The company expects to complete the project in the first quarter of 2022.


Rogers Real Estate unveiled Mississauga M3 tower design

Rogers Real Estate Development introduced the design of its M3 tower to be constructed in collaboration with Urban Capital and IBI Group at M City in Mississauga, Toronto, Canada.

Claimed to be the tallest building in Mississauga, the 851ft-high, 81-storey building will have 900 residential units ranging between 480ft² and 1,000ft².

The tower will house an amenity pavilion with an indoor pool and gymnasium for residents. The ground floor of the tower will feature a wraparound café, along with a linear park.


Westbank completed revamp of BIG’s Serpentine Pavilion, Toronto

Canadian real estate developer Westbank completed the reconstruction of Bjarke Ingels Group’s 2016 Serpentine Pavilion in Toronto.

Measuring 46ft in height and 39ft in width, and 88.5ft in length, this unzipped structure of fibreglass bricks will display large-scale models of ten Westbank projects in an exhibition titled ‘Unzipped’.

This exhibition is open to all from 15 September to November, reported Architectmagazine.com.


Carmel and Aegis assigned contract for Australia’s Joondalup project

Property developer Carmel Group and Aegis Aged Care Group planned to undertake an A$100m ($71.70m) multi-generational development at the former Joondalup Basketball Stadium site in Australia.

The project will see the construction of homes, elderly care, childcare, leisure and medical facilities on the 1.69ha location, which will be subdivided into three lots.

These sub-divisions intend to facilitate an integrated development connected by a shared public open space with walkways, play areas and a community garden.
