Asia-Pacific’s construction industry IT hiring activity drops 2.2% in September 2022

Asia-Pacific witnessed a 2.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the construction industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen an increase of 4.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.36% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.46% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 47.41% in September 2022, a 25.75% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.62% in September 2022, marking a 10.7% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 17.05% in September 2022, a 46.2% rise from August 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 6.75% in September 2022, a 7.48% decline over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 26.35% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s construction industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Larsen & Toubro posted 226 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 34.68% over the previous month, followed by Honeywell International with 149 jobs and a 51.31% drop. Sunway with 109 IT jobs and Jones Lang LaSalle with 68 jobs, recorded an 84.75% rise and a 28.3% rise, respectively, while Caterpillar recorded a 10.45% decline with 60 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s construction industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s construction industry IT hiring activity with a 62.55% share in September 2022, a 25.69% decrease over August 2022. Australia featured next with an 11.26% share, up 44.74% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded an 8.87% share, a growth of 58.54% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.39%, down by 14.93% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.1% share, registered a decline of 12.34% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.75% share, up 11.72% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.55%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
